How I Developed My Digital Marketing Website

Are you searching for a guide on how to create a website for your digital marketing business? Luckily, you've arrived at the best place. Today, I will be applying what I've learned as a web 2.0 specialist and sharing my experience of creating a small business site.

Here are my 2 top secret ways of launching your personal website.

  1. Pick a user-friendly design template provider. I chose the Wix platform because my intuition says that they have well-designed templates. However, I do not like the fact that the URL contains the name of the company. This is easily fixed by purchasing a domain on a hosting site like Go Daddy.
  2. Ensure unique images. In order to get your site to become valuable in the eyes of Google, images uploaded on the site must be unique. What does this mean? It simply cannot be found anywhere else on the web. Cropping images does not make them unique.
    • There are a few ways to create unique images designed to boost rankings in search engine algorithms. If you find a nice stock photo, you can rotate, transverse, or mirror it to create an image that has never been seen before. If the image is quite popular, this technique has already been done. You will have to find another way around it. An alternative approach includes the use of adding a filter to your picture. Filters have been used for ages and often times found on the popular photo sharing mobile application Instagram. You can see some of my filtered photos here.

Brief Overview of My First Introduction to Online Advertising

Today marks the 33rd day of my journey of becoming a digital nomad. I began researching about this new sector via YouTube at the beginning of the fall season of 2016. I started viewing content about living the life as a digital entrepreneur in third world countries. By conducting extensive research, I was able to arrive at the conclusion that I needed to develop some technical skills. Previously, I had been working in the digital marketing industry for approximately 14 months. Even before that, I explored the world of web crawling at a previous employer that built websites in under 48 hours for construction suppliers, contractors, and distributors.

I will go into detail about working at my first agency in a future post, but I would like to tell you about my true passion.

What did I learn at my first real job after serving as a barista at Starbucks?

I also learned the basic fundamentals of creating, managing, and optimizing paid search campaigns using Google. By reading several whitepapers found on the internet, I was able to increase my knowledge within pay per click advertising with the implementation of single keyword ad groups or SKAGs. This technique proved to be a useful tool when analyzing simple campaigns, but was very time consuming to setup.

How did I develop my skills in paid search advertising?

Compression Ring Remover
This was the first product that I managing a PPC campaign for. It is a brass compression ring remover that is used in plumbing. At the time, the item retailed for about $48.99. It was my duty to introduce this product to the world. Looking back, I wish I had suggested the idea of focusing the campaign around a demonstration video that would show people how to use the item. A difficulty that I encountered was determining what people would type into the search field to look for this item.

Where can you learn more about me?

In a previous post, you can read about my early childhood including grade, intermediate, and high school. I plan to develop the description of these events in future blog posts. Also, you will learn about what it is like to grow up in southern California.

Thank you for taking the time to read about how I launched my career
